Oregon hemp registrations are due to be renewed no later than DECEMBER 30! (According to OAR 603-048-0200(2).) Hitting this deadline is important for two reasons:
- The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) has been slow to approve new hemp registrations, so if you intend to grow next year, then you will be better positioned to grow in line with next year’s spring season, instead of being stuck in May with no effective registration.
- If you already have a registration and apply before the end of the year, it will be considered a renewal application instead of new application. Pursuant to Oregon law, a timely renewal application automatically extends the expiration of a license or registration until such time as the agency either issues the renewed license or issues a final order denying the renewal.
- If you were issued or offered to issue a new hemp registration this year, but not until it was too late to grow, it is in your best interest to accept this year’s hemp registration and renew it if you would like to have the option to grow next year.
The updated forms are not yet available, but we will update this article when they are. Our regulatory attorneys will continue writing about developments in Oregon hemp on the GLLG Blog.
